Game Over is a small series of 3 paintings created for inclusion in “Franchise 3”, a show curated by Scott Listfield at Gallery1988: LA.

The request sent by Scott in his invitational email was: “I want to see your art about the franchises that shaped you”. Retro gaming and arcade culture took up a lot of my childhood – providing an outlet for fantasy and arguably influencing my future aesthetic tastes – so I took this opportunity to paint scenes depicting arcade machines in varying states of decay. The game titles selected have personal significance and the 3 pieces show my nostalgia-soaked memories violently collapsing, quietly wasting away in darkness and being destroyed by fire in environments that I felt matched the respective moods of the games themselves.
